Fall Staple: Lipstik 'Metric' Ankle Boot

In New Zealand we are currently heading into spring, but I thought I'd do a post on these boots I have been loving as it will still apply to those who live in the Northern Hemisphere.

Recently I have been obsessed with ankle boots and had my heart set on getting the perfect pair for autumn. This may seem very simple, but let me tell you I tried on ENDLESS pairs of boots in order to find a pair that complemented my style the most. Some pairs were too chunky, too cheap looking or just plain uncomfortable but luckily I ended up finding the perfect pair, and for a reasonable price.

I purchased this pair from Hannahs, they are the Lipstik 'Metric' boot and I am absolutely in love! these boots are so comfortable, I have walked for miles in these. I love the side cut outs also, I felt that they added a little bit of 'edge' to a plain ankle boot. The tassels on the sides are also removable depending on your personal taste, so you wear these boots on many occasions.

Glasshouse Candle: Tahaa

For those of you who know me, you know my love for candles. I have been eyeing up this candle for a very long time, but have always resorted to cheaper options due to the price being quite steep for a candle... But my will power could only last for so long and I ended up caving in a and purchasing it...

If you have ever been into a Peter Alexander store, an Australian company, which makes luxury pyjamas, then this candle is most likely what you have smelt. Every single time I walked past that store I was lured in by the heavenly vanilla caramel aroma seeping through the air. It seems to constantly draw me in and  somehow I end up wanting to purchase $100 pyjamas... but now I don't have to be lured in by the wondrous smell as my room currently smells identical!

Lush Haul

So, I may have accidently taken a cheeky trip into lush…

I always go into lush whenever I am in the city, even if I’m not intending to buy anything. I go in, have a sniff around and get conned into purchasing a new soap or lip balm. I’m sure most people have lush in their country and are religious customers, so I thought I would share some of this things I have picked up from there recently.

The first thing I bought was the lush ‘Rockstar Soap’. I am absolutely obsessed with the scent of this soap. I have been eyeing it up for a while, but never been serious enough to actually buy it as lush products are rather pricy. I have had it sitting by my bed for the past few days and the smell is so strong it is crazy. It is such a feminine, light, floral scent and I can’t wait to start using it!

The second product I picked up was the ‘Sea Vegetable Soap’. This soap smells so fresh and clean I couldn’t resist. ‘Made with a crust of Atlantic sea salt to simulate, a layer or arame seaweed to soften and lavender and lime oils to articulate the brain’.

The last thing I picked up is probably a product you all have heard of before, the lush ‘Comforter Bubble Bar’. I have been listening to people on YouTube and blogger raving about this product for so long and I decided to see what all the fuss is about. ‘Wraps you in a fluffy pink blanket of blackberry bubbles to keep you safe and warm. Crumble under running bath water for mounds of fragrant bubbles’. This sounds perfect for cold winter nights, which in New Zealand, we have coming our way.

Overall I am completely satisfied with my new purchases and can’t wait to start using them!  Think in total these three products cost me around $30NZD, which is more than I would usually spend on soaps, but I decided to spoil myself.

I hoped you enjoyed this haul and if you want to see more posts like this let me know in the comments section below. Hope you all have a lovely week

Beauty Haul

Hello Lovelies

So… I happened to stumble across another makeup sale… They have these generally every three or four months in different locations all around Auckland, and this time funnily enough, it was about two minutes from my house. I don’t even live in central Auckland so having a makeup sale by my house and in my hometown seemed a bit strange, but either way I ended up going.

The makeup sales are usually in big ‘outlet’ type stores or event centres in the city. They basically have big long tables from one end of the room to another and on top they have small plastic open-topped boxes. The make-up is ‘tossed’ in there and you have to file through the boxes to find something decent that isn’t covered in foundation or crushed powder. Most of the stuff there is also either exceptionally dark or frightfully pale, making foundation shopping difficult. This is because all the cosmetics that they are selling are ‘rejects’ that didn’t sell well in the stores so they try sell them off at half price or more. Even though the stuff is mostly grungy looking, every now and then you find some real gems and I was lucky enough to stumble across quite a few. Initially I just went along for a ‘look’… ninety dollars later…

I first went to the eye shadows and other eye products. Most of these were odd shades of greens and blues which aren’t as wearable as the usual taupe’s and bronzers that I tend to lean towards. But I managed to dig deep enough through the box and find a really nice Maybelline New York, Eyestudio baked eye shadow. I have previously owned one of these and it is simply amazing. For drugstore it is such good quality and is extremely pigmented. I’m looking forward to trying out some different looks with this. The colour I picked up is 80, Sinful Sinnamon. It is quite reddish/coppery and although it isn’t one of the colours I would normally go for I still think that it is still a safe colour.

The second eye shadow I picked up is the Revlon CustomEyes palette in the colour 005, Gold Spun. These colours are so pretty and it has a nice balance of shimmery and matte colours. I’m really into gold eye shadows at the moment with black smudged through the upper lash line so I’m looking forward to having a play with this product.

The next area I went to was the foundation section. Sadly they didn’t have my colour in any of the decent foundations so I moved onto concealers. I was over the moon to find that they had one Maybelline FitMe concealer left in my colour (20, Sand Sable). This is the concealer that I have been using for the past few months and it is yet to fail me.

I then went over to the lipsticks not really expecting to find anything decent as usually all the colours that are left are washed out nudes or dark vampy reds. I ended up picking up The Revlon Super Lustrous® Lipstick in 007, In the Red. It is a medium red and has a matte finish which I really like as I feel it gives a look a more polished look, plus if you want to go for a satin finish you can always add a gloss over the top.

I also ended up picking up a L’Oreal Studio Secrets lip liner in the colour 051, Red. Now I didn’t really have time to swatch this, but the colour looked relatively close to the lipstick that I had just picked up so for $6 I ended up just going for it anyway. I was thrilled to find that it matches perfectly with the Revlon Lipstick in 007, In The Red.

I then continue grazing through the lipsticks and discovered they had some of the new Maybelline Colour Whispers. These haven’t even gone on sale in New Zealand so you can imagine my shock when I found them at this little outlet sale. I have been hearing everyone in American and the UK rave about how amazing they are, and being a Maybelline fan I have been desperate to try them. I ended up picking up one in the colour 30, Pin up Peach. It is such a beautiful soft girly pinkie peach. I really like with these how they are super moisturising and they also have a really nice glossy finish. I am looking forward to using this in spring as I feel that it is a very fresh flirty colour.

I ended up making the fatal mistake of looking at the mascara table… I ended up picked up two Maybelline Mascaras as I find all the ones I have tried so far, absolutely amazing. I chose The Rocket Volum’ Express mascara, which promises ‘explosive volume, even from root to tip’, and The Mega Plush Volum’ Express Mascara which guarantees ‘Mega Volume, No brittle feel’. I am excited to try these two mascaras as they both sound great and I have heard fabulous things about them already on the internet.

So that concludes my little haul. I hope you guys enjoyed this post and let me know if you enjoy my haul posts and want me to do more. If there are any products that you would be interested in me reviewing let me know as well as I love trying new products.

Lover: The Fashion World Down Under

Lover is an Australian fashion label founded in 2001 by designers Susien Chong and Nic Briand. Originally the Label was a weekend stall and the Bondi Markets in Sydney with a small collection of random separates. Over the years Lover has risen to fame in Australia and has developed a strong following by celebrities, models and bloggers.

Designer, Nic Briand says that each collection has a ‘narrative and central character’. Briand’s influences tend to be ‘heavier’, whereas Chong’s are ‘softer’. Self-described as ‘same album, different songs’. They have mixed their individual tastes to create an influential, innovative label.

I only recently found out about this label and it was due to seeing amazing dresses of theirs in magazines and on social networking platforms, such as instagram, and thinking ‘I need that’. Lover has a classic feel by using colours such as blacks, reds and royal blues but add their own innovative new look by adding unique floral lace prints and subtle cut outs. They have a creative way of keeping it simple, yet very fresh.

Victoria’s Secret Angels Alessandra Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel and Australia's very own, Miranda Kerr have both been spotted wearing pieces from Lovers Northern Hemisphere SS2012 collection and their Southern Hemisphere AW2013 collection. Australian Blogger, Jessica Stein (tuulavintage.com) is also often spotted wearing pieces from the label.

The Fashion World: Down Under

Recently I have noticed that blogger is mainly filled with British or American writers and most of the fashion is based around what is going on in the northern hemisphere. Living in the Southern Hemisphere, I notice that the weather is slowly evolving into winter and the Fashion World is lacking direction and interest, as our inspirations from the Northern Hemisphere’s pants are becoming shorts and t-shirts becoming tanks.

So starting May 1st, I have decided to make this month all about The Fashion industry in Australia and New Zealand. From models to bloggers, trends to designers, high end to low end, beauty to fashion, I will posting about all things fashion in the area commonly referred to as ‘Down Under’.

Stay tuned as I will be posting twice a week

Shaaanxo and SaturdayNightsAlrite

Hey Everyone!

I haven’t updated my blog in a couple of days and I have gotten up to some pretty cool things this week so I thought it might be worth a post today. Basically, I spend a lot of time on YouTube. I really don’t know what it is, but I just seem to find everything on there too interesting or funny and all the people are FAR too attractive. I quite quickly find myself watching a hundred videos and when I look at my history I pretty much start at people covering songs to cute animal things.

After I only really started using YouTube I stumbled across a Kiwi YouTuber named Shannon from the account Shaaanxo (http://www.youtube.com/user/shaaanxo) and I instantly became obsessed with her videos. She runs a beauty channel and is a complete make-up wiz. I forgot to mention she is absolutely stunning and is seriously has the best tips and tricks. She makes me want to go blonde and has the most creative look books and outfits of the day. A few weeks after that I found another amazing YouTuber from Canada (living in Australia) named Karissa. She also has a beauty/fashion youtube and is such an amazing girl with an incredible fashion sense and her style is literally, perfection. She runs the channel saturdaynightsalrite (http://www.youtube.com/user/saturdaynightsalrite). She is so gorgeous and her makeup is always absolutely flawless!

Recently Shannon announced that she was moving to Auckland, and as you can guess, I completely flipped out and decided to make it my mission to meet her somehow whilst she lives here just to say ‘hey’ or ‘I really love your channel’ or something along those lines. It seemed like quite a difficult challenge and I wasn’t quite sure how it was going to work out…  But a couple of days ago Karissa announced that she was coming to Kiwi-Land and was doing a meet-up with Shannon. I instantly cleared my weekend of plans and set out to meet them on the weekend and I ended up getting too!

They are seriously the two most amazing girls and YouTube and were so sweet to everyone. They stood out in the burning heat for a couple of hours signing autographs, posing for photos and having a good chat to everyone who turned out for the event. It was so great to get to meet them and they were even more gorgeous in person. I got so many great pictures of and with them and I was also lucky enough to be able to experience it with my best-friend.  It always seems so surreal to me when-ever I am lucky enough to see a well known face. I go home and watch their videos and I’m like ‘Hey, I met them’. If you haven’t already, I definitely suggest that you check out these girls channels. If you are reading my blog Im assuming that you have an interest in make-up and beauty related things so I know that you will adore their cahnnels!

I am in the first 3 images, The other ones are of the girls with their boyfriends and other viewers.

Anyways, That basically sums up the main excitement of my weekend. I also managed to get into town on Saturday and see some of the Simri fashion show launch and check out some of the items in their new collections. I plan on posting about that later in the week so I have time to edit all of the images I have taken and so I can procrastinate on what I actually want everyone to see.
